Mercedes is holding back on problems with car updates, despite Hamilton’s words

Toto Wolff is confident that it was not the new parts that caused Sir Lewis to crash on the gravel.

After the disastrous US Grand Prix, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton blamed car upgrades for his crash on the gravel, which forced him to end the race early.

But the head of the Silver Arrows, Toto Wolff, rejected this theory.

“I don’t think we have major problems with the updates. I think it is more related to the interaction in the field of aerodynamics and mechanics,” Autosport quoted the Austrian.

“So we will continue to update the car. There is no point in giving it away because we still have a lot of lap times left.”

“We need to understand why we have a car that is by far the fastest on Friday. Then on Saturday everything changes. In the sprint race we had a broken suspension. That’s one explanation.”

“We fixed it in qualifying, but nothing else worked and we struggled to keep up the pace. Then in the race there was an incident with Hamilton in that corner that came out of nowhere. He wasn’t attacking. And it’s 100% not Lewis’ fault.” .

The crash in Austin ended Lewis Hamilton’s mathematical chance of winning the world title.
