The ex-defender of Juventus and the Italian national team will begin coaching
Former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci will become assistant head coach Italy U-20 national team Bernardo Corradi.
This will be Bonucci’s first coaching experience. In May 2024, the 37-year-old player decided to end his professional career. The Italian’s last club was Fenerbahce, where he played only 12 matches, scoring one assist.
Bonucci is a legend of Juventus, for which from 2010 to 2023 he played 502 matches, scored 37 goals and made 10 assists, won 16 trophies (including eight Scudetto), and reached the Champions League final twice. Also in his career were Inter, Treviso, Pisa, Genoa, Bari and Milan.
As part of the Italian national team, for which he played 121 matches and scored 8 goals, Leonardo became the European champion at Euro 2020 and the vice-champion of the continent in 2012. He also won bronze at the Confederations Cup (2013) and twice at the Nations League (2021, 2023).
The Italian U-20 national team is currently playing in the Elite League of Europe, with four points after four rounds. On November 15 she will play with peers from Poland, and on November 19 – from Romania.
