Lakernik: “I haven’t heard that ISU can admit Russian skaters for the 2025/26 season. You still have to live to see it.”

Honorary Vice President of the International Skating Union (ISU) Alexander Lakernik told that he knows nothing about the possible admission of Russian figure skaters to international competitions in the 2025/26 season .

Earlier, a source from RIA Novosti Sport reported that the ISU may allow Russian and Belarusian figure skaters to compete in the 2025/26 season.

– First of all, I haven’t heard anything about this. Second, there is a lot of time left before the next figure skating season. It seems to me that these conversations only fuel interest in the situation, because it is unlikely that we will be allowed to participate in this season and we still have to live until the next one,” Lakernik told .

Russian skaters have been suspended from international competitions since 2022 due to the situation in Ukraine.
