The goalkeeper saved a penalty from Trossard in the second half
Goalkeeper Shakhtar Dmitry Riznyk summed up the results of the meeting with Arsenal (0:1) in the Champions League. According to the goalkeeper, the Miners could have achieved a more positive result in the match.
“In the first half we were looking for our game, there was jitters somewhere. Then we talked in the locker room, it was a completely different game, we controlled the ball more, we weren’t afraid to play. We didn’t have enough, we missed a funny goal and couldn’t score in response. It’s a pity”.
“Missed goal? No luck. Saved penalty? Of course, before each game we analyze the opponent, including penalties and everything that is needed. I’m very happy that we managed to fight it off. It’s a shame the team lost. A penalty is always 50/50, who will be luckier.”
“Arsenal is a very good team and plays football. We gave a decent fight and showed a decent game. If they had scored, the game would have been different. I think that this match could have been a draw. The main problem is mentality, psychology, who will be in what mood. In the first half we worked ourselves up, and in the second we came out and showed that we can play football even with such giants as Arsenal.”
Let us remind you that the home team managed to open the scoring in the 29th minute when, after a shot from Gabriel Martinelli, the ball first hit the post and then flew into the Miners’ goal from Dmitry Riznyk.
After the break, the Gunners again had the initiative and in the middle of the second half were awarded a penalty – Valery Bondar played with his hand in his own penalty area. But Leandro Trossard failed to beat Riznyk.
Shakhtar has only one point after three matches and 29th position. In the next round of the Champions League, Marino Pusic’s team will play against Young Boys.
