Olympic champion Bolshunov highlighted the urgent needs of Russian athletes

Multiple champion skier and Olympic medalist Alexander Bolshunov noted the importance of a competitive environment in the context of the isolation of Russian sport.

On February 28, the IOC recommended to international sports federations to prevent Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. Bolshunov received the Order of Alexander Nevsky on Friday at the ceremony for the presentation of state awards to athletes and coaches, held in Luzhniki.

– I express my deep gratitude to the State for its support. We will always meet. Our work is really appreciated, we receive such awards. I would like to thank our entire ski team, our families, our parents, without whom it is impossible to achieve these results. Now we have to organize competitions in Russia and abroad. We want to compete with the strongest. All sports benefit from it. I hope that all competitions in the country will be implemented and we will not let you down,” Bolshunov said.

The 25-year-old skier at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing won 3 gold medals, one silver and one bronze.
