The Reds continue to go without losses, the Bulls have not yet scored points in the tournament
RB Leipzig suffered a minimal defeat at home from Liverpool in the 3rd round Champions League 2024/25 – 0:1.
The game took place on a collision course. Leipzig did not hesitate against the backdrop of a formidable opponent, and could have opened the scoring at least twice. In one episode, goalkeeper Quivin Kelleher made an unsuccessful play outside the penalty area, but Benjamin Sheshko, delivering a twisted shot from the flank, could not hit the goal.
In the 26th minute, Lois Openda scored beautifully from a turn, but the Belgian was rightly called offside. And in the next attack, Liverpool scored: Mohamed Salah crossed, and Darwin Nunez neatly sent the ball into the far corner with his head.
The Reds did not dry out the game, and later chances arose at both goals. The visitors could have increased the score: Alexis McAllister hit the crossbar, Cody Gakpo’s shot was saved by Peter Gulacsi. Kelleher was also not bored – he had to help out, for example, after a difficult shot by Xavi Simons. In the end, the unfortunate Openda scored again, but again from an offside position.
Liverpool, although not without difficulties, was able to secure a third victory in the tournament in a row. Leipzig, on the contrary, remains without points – earlier Marco Rose’s team (also with a minimal difference in the score) lost to Atletico and Juventus.
In the fourth round, the Reds will host Bayer Leverkusen, and the Bulls will play away against Celtic.
