Maguchikh’s world high jump record of 2.10 m, set in Paris in July, has been ratified by World Athletics

In July, the Ukrainian surpassed Stefka Kostadinova’s world record, which had stood since 1987.

World Athletics (International Association of Athletics Federations) announced the ratification of the world record of the Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslav Maguchikh.

Let us recall that on July 7, Maguchikh broke the world high jump record, which had stood since 1987 – Yaroslava cleared a height of 2.10 m at the Diamond League stage in Paris.

The Ukrainian is also nominated for the title of the world’s best non-running athlete in 2024. Her competitors for the prize from World Athletics were Valerie Allman (USA), Tara Davis-Woodhall (USA), Nina Kennedy (Australia) and Thiam Nafissatou (Belgium).

Yaroslava Maguchikh was recognized as the best athlete in Ukraine based on the results of June, August and September. Yaroslava was also recognized as the best athlete of Ukraine in 2023.

At the 2024 Olympic Games, Maguchikh won gold in the high jump, clearing the bar at a height of 2.00 m.
