Junior world champion cyclist Alena Ivanchenko spoke about her impressions on the Krylatskoe track after the Spartakiad of the strongest individual race.
On Saturday, 18-year-old Ivanchenko won this type of program.
– Most “pros” miss Spartakiad. Why did you come?
“It was important to play for Saint Petersburg,” Ivanchenko told reporters. We haven’t been to Russia for a long time, we were in Europe, in Spain in a training camp. Then we drove here.
You speak in the plural. Did you come with Masha Novolodskaya?
– No, with the guys.
– How do you like this section of the route in Krylatskoye?
– The track is very atypical and quite difficult, technical, many turns, descents, climbs. Not quite to “cut”. I have never traveled here before. It was the first time – we arrived two extra days. Now I want to relax, ride, drink water.
– Are you going to the group run?
– Not. Next comes the Spartakiad on the track. Then I will have races with the team.
– Do you feel like you’ve become cooler?
— I am a runner like everyone else. When I come to certain races, they already know who I am, but I will continue to work, try to show myself.
– Have you ever moved to the “Unders” (U-23 – approximately)?
– First year, but I’m still 18. I was just born at the end of the year. Hopefully there will still be a chance to compete for victory at the World Championships and Anders too.
