Subsequently, the UCI deprived the race of its official status and removed it from the international calendar for attempting to enter the Russians

To a bike race Tour du Faso (category 2.2) of the African continental tour, the Russian team entered the start, wearing a CSKA uniform with the inscription “Russian army”.

Guests from country 404 even received starting numbers, but common sense prevailed – representatives of the occupiers were removed from the competition just before the start.

The thing is that any Russian teams are prohibited from participating in races under the auspices of the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale). The organization itself subsequently deprived the Tour du Faso of its official status and was removed from the international calendar for trying to introduce Russians.

The Tour du Faso is a multi-day cycling race that has taken place in Burkina Faso since 1987. In 2005, she entered the calendar of the newly formed UCI African Tour with category 2.2. Since 2009, the organization of the race has been taken over by the Burkina Faso Cycling Federation (FBC) and the country’s government.
