President of the Russian Cycling Federation (RFCRF) Vyacheslav Ekimov told that the organization had not received an invitation to the multi-day African race Tour Faso.

Earlier, the road.cc portal reported that the International Cycling Union (UCI) had excluded the Tour Faso from its calendar due to the participation of the CSKA team. According to media reports, the Russian team started the first stage of the multi-day cycling race, despite a warning about the inadmissibility of such participation.

— We have not received any invitation to this race from the organizers. The Russian Cycling Federation did not receive it; if the team ended up there, it was through CSKA,” Ekimov told .

As the media wrote, the CSKA team was invited on the initiative of the organizers of the Tour Faso, and the organizing committee of the race ignored the UCI’s attempts to prevent this performance. Russian cyclists started in the uniform of the Russian national team.
