Manchester City refused Manchester United’s request to take Garnacho and Maina, along with City players, to the Ballon d’Or ceremony

The English champion explained his refusal by the fact that there were no free seats on the private flight.

Manchester City refused the request of neighbors from Manchester United take on board a private plane carrying representatives of the Citizens to Paris at the award ceremony Ballon d’Or 2024two of its players – midfielder Kobby Mainu and winger Alejandro Garnacho.

City motivated its refusal by the fact that there were no empty seats on board. The Red Devils will have to look for alternative options for two of their players who are nominated for the Raymond Kop Prize (for U-21 players).

Man City, in turn, is sending a large delegation to Paris. Four players have been nominated for the men’s Ballon d’Or – Ruben Dias, Rojri, Phil Foden and Erling Haaland. Three more representatives of the club – Yui Hasegawa, Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw – are among the contenders for the women’s award. Savigno, like Garnacho and Mainu, was included in the list of nominees for the Copa Trophy.

Let us remind you that today it became known that Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrey Lunin will be part of the Real Madrid delegation that will go to Paris for the 2024 Ballon d’Or award ceremony.

Manchester United, after the arrival of new shareholders led by Jim Radcliffe, is pursuing a cost-saving policy. As part of this strategy, the club even parted ways with the legend Sir Alex Ferguson, who will leave his post as Manchester United’s global ambassador at the end of the season.
