American figure skater Ilya Malinin leads after the short program of the second stage of the Grand Prix in Halifax, Canada.
Malinin received 106.22 points for the rental. The second and third places were Japanese representatives Shun Sato (96.52) and Sota Yamamoto (92.16), respectively.
In the dance duet competition, Evgenia Lopareva, originally from Moscow, and Geoffrey Brissot, representing France, took third place in rhythm dance, with 76.76 points. The best result was obtained by Canadians Paul Poirier and Piper Gilles (86.44).
The skaters will present their free programs on Sunday.
