The last such achievement belongs to Terry Venables, who led Barcelona from 1984 to 1987
Head coach Barcelona Hans-Dieter Flick became the first coach of the club since 1984 to win his debut El Clasico, held in Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Blaugran’s last coach to achieve a similar achievement was English coach Terry Venables, who won with Barcelona against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in September 1984.
Yesterday, Barcelona beat Real Madrid 4-0 on a visit – Robert Lewandowski scored twice, and Lamin Yamal and Raphinha scored a goal each. The entire match for Real was played by Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrei Lunin, for whom this match was the third this season.
Flick took charge of Barcelona in the summer off-season – under the leadership of the German specialist, the Catalans won 10 of the 11 opening matches of La Liga, now having a six-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid.
Let us remember that Hans-Dieter Flick became the best coach of August in the Spanish La Liga.
In the next round, Barcelona will face the Catalan derby – they will host Espanyol at home on November 3.
