Lakernik advocated for skaters to make programs more complex with good quality and artistry

Honorary vice-president of the International Skating Union (ISU), Alexander Lakernik, said he supports complicated programs for good quality and artistic skaters.

From October 26 to 27, Magnitogorsk hosts the first stage of the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix. In women’s single skating, Anna Frolova won, and in men’s singles, Mark Kondratyuk won.

— A few years ago, they thought we had problems with men’s skating. Look how handsome the boys are now.

-Who did you love the most?

— Today I evaluated the elements, judged. I won’t answer directly about who I liked. By rushing, we got those grades.

— Kondratyuk attempts a cascade of two triple axes in the program. How do you like it?

— The question is how to score the maximum points with a series of jumps, it’s a good mathematical problem. Mark has been there, it’s interesting.

— Are you for quality?

— I am for figure skating to be a sport. “I am for complexity, quality and artistic talent,” reports a correspondent, Lakernik reports.
