Acting President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Anton Sikharulidze said that at the start of the season he was satisfied with the high competition in ice dancing.
The first stage of the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix in Magnitogorsk ended on Sunday; Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin became the winners in ice dancing. In total, for two performances, they received 207.40 points from the judges. The second place was taken by Irina Khavronina and David Narizhny (204.46). Sofia Leontyeva and Daniil Gorelkin finished third (193.64).
— Competitive environment, incredible competition in all its forms. I’m glad that in the dances, the leaders from last season run away and the others catch up. The dance competitions were very important to me, there’s really competition, it’s great. Having skated myself, I understand that the first tournament always has some flaws. It will be better, cleaner. Everything is on track, everything is fine, but gaps and errors are normal.
The interest of the public and viewers can only please. We will continue to please, ”reports the correspondent of according to Sikharulidze’s words.
The second stage of the Russian Grand Prix will take place in Kazan from November 1 to 4.
