Oscar-nominated actor Farrell ran the Dublin Marathon to raise money for his girlfriend’s treatment.

More than 22,000 people took part in the Irish Life Dublin Marathon on Sunday, including Hollywood actor Colin Farrell, reports the Irish Times.

Farrell ran the entire distance pushing his friend Emma Fogarty, who suffers from a rare skin disease called epidermolysis bullosa (EB), in a wheelchair in front of him throughout the final miles of the marathon.

The Castleknock native has already raised more than €700,000 for a national charity which supports people living with EB.

Fogarty was born without skin on her left leg and right arm and now develops painful blisters at the slightest touch, a condition also known as “butterfly disease.”

Oscar-nominated actor Farrell, 48, overcame the pain barrier to complete the 42 kilometers (26 miles) in 4 hours, 6 minutes and 45 seconds.
