International Skating Union (ISU) honorary vice-president Alexander Lakernik said any figure skater would be afraid of a quintuple exclusion in pairs skating as it could have disastrous consequences.
In early October, Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky performed a quadruple throw with a step at the Panin-Kolomenkin memorial in St. Petersburg and took second place in the pair sports competition.
— How do you assess the fact that Boykova and Kozlovsky developed a quadruple ejection?
– Everyone wants to win. They want to make it a functional item so they can do it without the risk of injury, so it makes sense. It doesn’t look that scary, but it takes a lot of practice. Somehow you can go this route, but the problem is health.
—Is a quintuple twist possible?
“You have to be an absolutely reckless girl not to be afraid of such things.” Everyone would be afraid, because the consequences could be disastrous. But it can be superb,” reports a correspondent, reporting Lakernik’s comments.
From October 26 to 27, Magnitogorsk hosts the first stage of the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix. There are 4 duos registered in pair skating: Anastasia Mukhortova – Dmitry Evgeniev, Elizaveta Osokina – Artem Gritsaenko, Alisa Blinnikova – Alexey Karpov, Daria Andreeva – Alexander Akimov.
