Ballon d’Or 2024. Vinicius and Bellingham are in the top 3, Haaland and Mbappe are in the middle of the top 10

The Spaniard Rodri won the award for the first time, and the next three places went to representatives of Real Madrid

Today, October 28, the award ceremony took place in Paris. Ballon d’Or 2024 at the Chatelet theater. The winner for the first time was the midfielder of the Spanish national team and Manchester City Rhodri (Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante).

In the voting, the victor, who became the Premier League champion and Euro 2024 winner in the past year, was ahead of three representatives of Real Madrid – winger Vinicius Junior, midfielder Jude Bellingham and defender Dani Carvajal.

Let us recall that the presence of Real Madrid players in Paris was initially planned, but the Madrid club subsequently canceled the visit of its delegation to the ceremony. Presumably, Blancos knew in advance that winger Vinicius Junior, considered the main contender for the award, would not receive the Ballon d’Or.

Two players who were in the top 3 in last year’s voting – Erling Haaland (Manchester City) and Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain / Real Madrid) – this time took 5th and 6th places, respectively.

The top 10 also included Inter forward Lautaro Martinez, 17-year-old Barcelona winger Lamin Yamal and retired midfielder Toni Kroos. Bayern forward Harry Kane rounded out the top ten.

Let us remember that two current football legends, eight-time award winner Lionel Messi (2023 winner) and five-time winner Cristiano Ronaldo, were not included in the list of 30 applicants for the 2024 World Cup.
