On November 5 and 6, the Ukrainian futsal team will have friendly matches against the Czech Republic
In Kyiv in Home of football a press conference was held at which the head coach Ukrainian national futsal team Alexander Kosenko shared the team’s immediate plans.
“All teams are progressing and understand that this is a European Championship selection. So we’ll have to start from scratch. We remember our pre-qualifiers. Even the matches with Denmark or Albania were very difficult. Now we remember the victorious fights of the World Championship, but if we mention the qualifications, it was very difficult. And with Kosovo and the Netherlands. That’s how it will be in this qualifying tournament. Therefore, you need to forget about medals and from now on start to tune in.”
“It won’t be easy with Cyprus and Germany and Romania. All teams will compete with us, especially at home arenas. Everything will depend on ourselves. How we tune in and prepare. Now there are no weak opponents, and I am sure that, for example, Cyprus and Germany do not look like favorites on paper, but it will be difficult to play against him away.”
“We invite young players – Maryan Masevich and Vladislav Perveev. We want to chat and get to know them. Vladislav Zavertany also returns to the team. But there won’t be any drastic changes in the lineup. In my opinion, this team can still improve its game for many years.”
“But I always say that you don’t have to stop, you don’t have to think that in the future everything will be fine by itself. There will be failures and defeats, because without this there will be no way. We need to become even stronger to maintain the level we are at now. Move forward step by step. We have already taken this step – we are bronze medalists at the World Championships. The most important next step and if we take it, we will progress.”
On November 5 and 6, the Ukrainian futsal team will play friendly matches against the Czech Republic, which will be held in the city of Frydek-Mistek. The list of national team players for this training camp has also become known.
On December 13, Ukraine will start in the qualifying match for the 2026 European Championship against Cyprus, and on December 17, Alexander Kosenko’s team will face a match against Romania.
Let us remind you that in October the Ukrainian national team reached the semi-finals of the 2024 World Cup. Kosenko’s team dramatically lost to Brazil, but defeated France (7:1) in the match for third place and won bronze medals at the world championship. The Brazilians beat Argentina in the final and became world champions.
Two Ukrainian football players became winners of individual nominations. Daniil Abakshin received the “silver boot” of the tournament, and Rostislav Semenchenko became the third best player of the tournament, receiving the “bronze ball”.
