At the 2024 World Championships in Uzbekistan, the Ukrainian futsal team won bronze medals
President of the Futsal Association of Ukraine Sergey Vladyko summed up the performance of the Ukrainian team at the 2024 World Championships in Uzbekistan, where bronze medals were won.
“For the first time in the history of the UAF, Ukrainian futsal players will receive an award from the association, and this success is a common achievement. For the first time, the Minister of Youth and Sports congratulates us, emphasizing the importance of our work.”
“Behind every victory is a team of people, without whom this result would not have been possible. The entire system worked as a single mechanism, confirming the strength of our interaction. The minister believes us and helps us. The UAF president trusts me, I trust the head coach, and he trusts the players, who, in turn, support him.”
“During the war, we played all our matches abroad, and there was no question of organization, material support or medical care. There was complete interaction and cooperation. But we don’t stop. Already in December we will have qualifying matches for the European Championship, so we continue to move forward and work for new victories.”
On November 5 and 6, the Ukrainian futsal team will play friendly matches against the Czech Republic, which will be held in the city of Frydek-Mistek. The list of national team players for this training camp has also become known.
On December 13, Ukraine will start in the qualifying match for the 2026 European Championship against Cyprus, and on December 17, Alexander Kosenko’s team will face a match against Romania.
Let us remind you that in October the Ukrainian national team reached the semi-finals of the 2024 World Cup. Kosenko’s team dramatically lost to Brazil, but defeated France (7:1) in the match for third place and won bronze medals at the world championship. The Brazilians beat Argentina in the final and became world champions.
Two Ukrainian football players became winners of individual nominations. Daniil Abakshin received the “silver boot” of the tournament, and Rostislav Semenchenko became the third best player of the tournament, receiving the “bronze ball”.
