The Spaniard did not dramatize because of the disappointment in the anniversary race.
The previous Mexican Grand Prix should have been a celebration of the name of Fernando Alonso, because for the Aston Martin driver this stage was the 400th in his career.
But after a not-so-successful qualifying, the 43-year-old Spaniard was forced to retire on the 16th lap of the race.
“Everything was good, it was a good start. Obviously there were a lot of people ahead of us, so we took advantage of it. But there seemed to be a bit of debris in the front brake ducts and the temperature was sky high,” Nando was quoted as saying by Formula 1’s official website .
“We tried to mitigate it by moving the brake balance back and doing other things, but the situation was still not under control. So, unfortunately, we had to finish the race early – a bit unlucky today. “

Asked if it hurts more because it was his 400th Grand Prix, Alonso replied: “To be honest, it always hurts the same when you don’t see the checkered flag. It doesn’t matter which race it is.”
“We’re here to compete. In a way, when you don’t have the best weekend, it’s not that bad to retire. It might be unclear today that we’ll score, so hopefully we’ll be lucky. and we’ll come back stronger next time that race and next year here.”
Four rounds before the end of the season, Fernando Alonso is in ninth place in the driver’s championship, having scored 62 points.
