Imad Ashur’s team won thanks to accurate shots from Sergei Chobotenko and Alexey Gutsulyak
A match took place in Zhitomir 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup — Polesie won a strong-willed victory over Krivbass (2:1).
The scoring was opened by the guests in the 17th minute – a precise shot from midfielder Maxim Zaderaki. Polesie restored the status quo shortly before the break – centerback Sergei Chobotenko scored with an accurate shot.
The victory for Imad Ashura’s team was brought by winger Alexei Gutsulyak, who made a precise header in the 71st minute after a cross from the left flank. Let us note that in the second half, defensive midfielder Ruslan Babenko came on as a substitute for Polesie, having missed five weeks due to injury.
Thus, Polesie became the fourth club to make it to the 1/4 finals of the Ukrainian Cup – Rukh, Oleksandriya and Bukovyna did this earlier. The remaining matches of the 1/8 finals will be played today, October 30.
Polesie will play its next match on November 3 away against Alexandria, while Krivbass will host Rukh at home on November 4.
