The Croatian’s team lost minimally to Shakhtar in the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup
Head coach Zari Mladen Bartulovich was pleased with the team’s performance, despite the defeat from Shakhtar (0:1) in the 1/8 finals Ukrainian Cup 2024/25.
“I thank my team for a good match, for their attitude. They showed a very decent game. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. The referee, in general, did a good job, but at a key stage of the game, when our pressure became more and more important, he gave us a red card. She wasn’t in that episode. This is the maximum – yellow.”
“I don’t think the condition of the field affected the game. The pitch was the same for both teams. In the summer we played a match here against Rukh and there were also questions about the condition of the field. It’s clear that something needs to be done with him.”
“We watched many of Shakhtar’s matches. We prepared the guys for a difficult match. In my opinion, we did a good job against our opponents. We worked compactly and aggressively, especially in the second half. There were moments when we could have scored. Overall, I’m pleased with our actions in this game.”
Shakhtar scored the only goal in the first half, Lassina Traore scored. Zarya finished the match shorthanded after the sending off of defender Gabriel Esquinha, who made a rough tackle in the center of the field.
In the next match, Bartulovich’s team will play against LNZ. The match of the 12th round of the UPL will take place on November 4.
