The Argentine driver caught the attention of Formula 1’s top team in a short time.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner has confirmed his team’s interest in Williams driver Franco Colapinto.
Horner said he would consider bringing in the 21-year-old Argentine if the opportunity arose.
“Colapinto is an interesting driver. Surprisingly, he is performing better now than expected when he was in Formula 2. I would be a bad team manager if I didn’t know if he was available,” Horner was quoted as saying as told by Auto Motor and Sport.
Moreover, information appeared in foreign media that the Austrian team was ready to buy Colapinto’s contract with Williams for $20 million.
The option is not excluded that Franco will go directly to Red Bull.
These moves by Red Bull are related to the potential departure of Sergio Perez, who is not living up to the team’s expectations.
