Athletistic/ Figure Skating. Three-time Olympic champion in pair skating, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Irina Rodnina commented on the information that Olympic champion in individual skating Alina Zagitova may return to professional performance.
“Zagitova’s return to figure skating is possible only for PR reasons. There will be another show, but already within the framework of professional competitions. If she wants it, then please. But this is no longer a sport,” Rodnina said.
Alina Zagitova announced the suspension of her professional career in December 2019 and has not competed since then, but also did not make an announcement regarding her retirement from figure skating. The figure skater takes part in ice shows, tries herself as a TV presenter and studies at the Faculty of Journalism.
Zagitova’s track record includes the gold medal of the 2018 Olympics in individual skating, the silver of the team competition of the Olympics-2018, the gold medal of the European Championship 2018, the gold of the of the 2019 World Championship and the silver of the 2019 European Championship in individual skating.
