At the World Cup in Singapore, Douglas clocked 2:12.72. She bettered her own record, which she set last week in Incheon (2:14.16). Before Douglas, the world record belonged to another American, Rebecca Soni (2:14.57), which she set in 2009.
Kate Douglas is a two-time Olympic champion in Paris 2024 – she took gold in the same discipline 200 m breaststroke, as well as in the 4×100 medley relay.
The 22-year-old American is also a 14-time world championship medalist. At the 2024 World Cup in Doha, Kate Douglas won five medals – two gold, two silver and one bronze.
