Dybala’s goal lifted Juric’s side into the top half of the table
Roma won at home against Torino in the match of the 10th round of the Italian Serie A – 1:0.
The opponents approached the fight in an unusual status. The Turin team started strongly, however, since the end of September they suffered three defeats in a row and fell back from the European Cup zone. The Romans, after nine rounds, trailed with 10 points at the bottom of the table, having managed to change their coach – Ivan Jurich took over from Daniele De Rossi. In addition, in today’s match Roma could not be helped by Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbik, who is experiencing problems with his knee.
The decisive moment was in the middle of the first half, which arose out of nowhere. Karol Linetti made a big mistake when he made an unsuccessful pass to the goalkeeper. Paulo Dybala intercepted the ball, moved away from Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and shot from a tight angle into the empty goal. Adam Masina tried to prevent the goal, but in a tackle he only helped the ball cross the line. It’s not a fact that the ball went on target after the Argentine’s shot, but the goal was credited to him.
The match took place in a tough fight, with a minimum number of aggravations. Torino was unable to respond to the missed goal. Roma celebrates the long-awaited victory and, at least for a while, rises into the top 10 of the standings.
The Giallorossi’s next match will be on Sunday, away against Verona. Torino will host Fiorentina on the same day.
