“That sounds wild”: Joshua on his tactics in the first fight with Usyk

The Briton decided to measure his Ukrainian skills.

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua shares his memories of his first fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

According to the Briton, he wants to outbox the Ukrainian, and not knock him out.

“It sounds crazy, but I’m not going to lie. I don’t want to shock him, throw hard punches. My goal is to go all 12 rounds and prove that I can box like him. I want to throw punches that score points. But I didn’t train well enough to get a 12-round fight at the right pace. I didn’t have the right mindset to go out there and smash him. Obviously I had to use size and power this time, right? But easier said than done than to do”.

Joshua also featured the Ukrainian boxer’s left hand.

“The training camps are very hard, exhausting and exhausting for the brain. I need to improve my condition. I need to make adjustments to cope with the southpaw, because left-handed fighters are a nightmare for me. I swear if Alexander is not left-handed, then I will beat him. I give you one hundred percent,” the Daily Mail quoted the Briton as saying.

It will be remembered that the rematch between Usyk and Joshua will take place on August 20 in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) at the Super Dome arena. In the first match, which took place in September 2021, the Ukrainian defeated the Briton by unanimous decision, winning the championship belt.

It was previously reported that Usyk’s manager was impressed with Oleksandr’s form.
