Figure skater Matvey Vetlugine said he forgot to bring a flashlight, which is one of his accessories, with him during his short program during the second stage of the Russian Grand Prix.
The second stage of the Russian Grand Prix began on Saturday in Kazan. Vetlugin scored 85.62 points and took third place in the short program. The first place is taken by Vladislav Dikidzhi (101.45), the second by Gleb Lutfullin (98.04).
Vetlugin presented a short program to the song “On the Lilac Moon” by Leonid Agutin.
— A turn in the buckle, a quarter turn in the lutz and a flashlight were missing; I forgot it in the locker room. The music there was like I was at a concert, everyone was thinking about how to incorporate a flashlight into a costume. And I forgot about it (laughs).
– Is this a joke?
– No, it’s sewn into the suit, there are gloves inside.
— What if people lit lanterns?
— Spectators are prohibited from flashing, but it turns out I’m setting a bad example (laughs). It would probably be a mistake if I encouraged viewers to do that.
— You are training with a new team. How are you doing there?
– I feel good, calm, understandable. I feel comfortable, I understand what they expect of me. No problem.
— How did you decide to skate to Agutin, what do you think about the fact that the audience will sing?
— You can distribute the text to the public, it’s just a dream, cool (laughs).
I would like to give brightness to myself, to the program. The places are not that important, but the colorful trail is more memorable.
— Maybe with Agutin’s live singing?
— Is this possible in competition? It would be interesting to participate in the show,” reports the correspondent, according to Vetlugin.
Vetlugin joined Evgeny Rukavitsyn’s group at the end of March. Previously he trained with Alexei Mishin.
The skaters will present their free program on Sunday.
