The greatest player in League of Legends history wins the main event for the fifth time in his career
South Korean esports organization T1 became the winner of the main tournament of the year League of Legends — World Championship 2024 (Worlds 2024).
In the grand final T1 played with the Chinese team Bilibili Gaming. The South Korean team was losing 1:2 on the maps, but made a comeback and achieved a final victory – 3:2.
For their triumph at Worlds 2024, T1 earned $445 thousand. Bilibili Gaming received $356 thousand. Weibo Gaming and Gen.G Esports took 3rd-4th place.
T1 became Worlds champions for the second time in a row and for the fifth time in history. The organization won the tournament in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2023.
Legendary player T1 Lee “Faker” Sang-hyuk became MVP of the grand final. The 28-year-old won the Worlds for the fifth time in his career. He is the most decorated player in the history of the tournament.
Worlds 2024 took place from September 25 to November 2 in Paris, Berlin and London. The grand final of the tournament took place at the 02 Arena in the capital of Great Britain.
20 teams took part in Worlds 2024, with a prize fund of $2,225,000. World Championship 2025 will take place next fall in China.
