Figure skater Vladislav Dikidji said he was seriously worried during his performance at the second stage of the Russian Figure Skating Grand Prix.
On Sunday, Dikiji won the second stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Kazan, earning 288.32 points in total across two programs. The second was Gleb Lutfullin (284.85), the third was Matvey Vetlugin (255.18).
– Very difficult emotions. I was very worried, my legs were shaking. Thank goodness I pulled myself together, it turned out to be a really good skate. By the end, to put it mildly, I was tired. This is the first competition where I jumped four quads.
During training, everything seems completely different, there is no anxiety, you feel relaxed. In the short program, take it easy in public.
— Have you watched Lutfullin’s performances and scores?
— I looked at everyone while I waited. Maybe it depressed me mentally. You can’t make mistakes. I was lucky, I jumped a double Lutz instead of a triple, I thought I was going to lose first place.
– Maybe then don’t look at your opponents?
“For some reason it makes me feel good to know the situation.” So I also keep track of time.
– Lutfullin called you a very strong opponent. Is it nice?
– Yes. But that’s not my case, I don’t have any competition in a good way. I’m always happy for everyone who skates. Even if they go around me. I have no enemies, I love everyone very much. We have healthy competition,” reports a correspondent, according to Dikiji.
