Figure skater Vetlugin said it would be interesting to introduce artificial intelligence into the figure skating scoring system

Figure skater Matvey Vetlugine said he was trying to understand the judges’ assessments.

On Sunday, Vetlugin won bronze in the second stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Kazan, with a score of 255.18 points. The first was Vladislav Dikidzhi (288.32), the second was Gleb Lutfullin (284.85).

— Of course, it was important to have a medal. I don’t have the opportunity to fight for a medal in every competition. I am aware that I cannot fight for the top three at the Grand Prix and Russian Championship finals, such a goal does not exist. I came here and I expected second or third place. It went well.

I’m trying to develop complex content. After an injury in September, I didn’t return to the ice until the end of the month. In October I only jumped single and double jumps. I don’t have stable confidence at the moment, but I’m trying to perform well. Not everything went well, but I tried to have fun both days.

— Do you watch the participants on stage? Where is there less competition?

– It’s not all up to me. Thanks to the St. Petersburg Federation for allowing me. He is scheduled to perform in Moscow. I’m happy that I was able to play in Kazan.

—How interested are you in analyzing other skaters’ content? Maybe you could become a judge?

— I am interested in the judgment aspect of the question; I like to understand how items are evaluated. Is it realistic to implement AI to count the number of turns? The computer will not allow subjective assessment based on shortcomings, but that is the future.

I try to count my revolutions. You need to understand the rules and nuances, take them into account and monitor this during the rental, ”reports the correspondent, according to Vetlugin.
