French athlete Morhad Amdouni will be tried for suspicion of intentional violence against his wife, who also accuses him of assault and rape, reports Le Parisien.
An investigation has been opened into the last two accusations.
The athlete was arrested at his home on September 18 for violence against his wife Munira. The victim claimed that the domestic dispute broke out after she learned of her husband’s infidelity and also said that he tried to strangle her. Amdouni, 36, himself denied these accusations.
It appears that the athlete’s mother, brother and mistress were questioned. Amdouni was placed under judicial supervision. The runner’s wife also accuses him of repeated assault and rape.
Amdouni won the 10,000 meters at the 2018 European Championships in Berlin and also won bronze in the 5,000 meters. The athlete is the French marathon record holder.
