The Ukrainian-Latvian duo needs a miracle to make it to the next round.
On Monday, November 4, the second round of the WTA Final Tournament took place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
In the doubles group stage match, the duo of Lyudmila Kichenok and Elena Ostapenko met Xie Shuwei and Elise Mertens.

The Ukrainian and the Latvian failed in the match. Through two sets, they managed to win only four games.

Lyudmila Kichenok/Elena Ostapenko (Ukraine/Latvia) – Xie Shuwei (Taiwan) / Elise Mertens (Belgium) – 1:6, 3:6
In the final round, to qualify from the group, Kichenok and Ostapneko had to defeat Nicole Melichar and Ellen Perez in straight sets, as well as for Kateřina Sinyakova and Taylor Townsend to defeat Xie Shuwei and Elise Mertens in straight sets.
