The Football Federation of Armenia is searching for a suitable candidate
New mentor Armenian national team may become coach of Madrid’s reserve team Real (Castilla) — Raul.
“No coach can guarantee that he will be able to lead the team to the World Cup. Even experts like Ancelotti and Guardiola cannot guarantee this.”
“We said goodbye to Alexander Petrakov after the match against North Macedonia and thanked him for his work. Petrakov had personal problems and had to leave urgently. Members of his coaching staff remained and are still working today.”
“The negotiations are difficult because the federation has no trace of financial resources published in the media. We met with Michel Ter-Zakarian, but he has big demands.”
“We are considering two options: starting as a coach in the next two matches or starting next year. There are many candidates, including Raoul. The information about negotiations with Rui Mota and Noah is not true,” said Vice-President of the Football Federation of Armenia Armen Nikoghosyan.
The Football Federation of Armenia decided in October to release Ukrainian Alexander Petrakov from the post of head coach of its national team. The decision was made after Armenia’s home defeat to North Macedonia (0:2) in the Nations League.
Let us remind you that the ex-mentor of the youth and national teams of Ukraine led the Armenian team at the beginning of 2023. Under the leadership of Petrakov, the Armenian team won four of 18 matches (with ten defeats), including only two of the last 14.
Raul Gonzalez Blanco does not intend to continue working in his current position and planned to leave Castilla at the end of the current season. 47-year-old Raul, who spent many years with Real Madrid as a player (1994-2010, 550 matches, 228 goals), has been coaching Real Madrid Castilla since 2019, which plays in the RFEF First Division (the third highest level in the Spanish league system).
Two rounds before the end, Armenia lost its chance of direct access to League B. Petrakov’s ex-team may well be downgraded. To avoid this, she needs to gain some points in the November matches – with the Faroe Islands at home and Latvia away.
