Gvozdyk on the defeat to Benavidez: I can’t say that it somehow destroyed me psychologically

Alexander is already preparing for his next fight

Former world light heavyweight champion Alexander Gvozdyk (20-2, 16 KOs) recalled his fight for the vacant WBC interim light heavyweight title with the American David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs).

“I can’t say that it somehow destroyed me psychologically. This has happened to me before, so it’s unpleasant, but it’s okay, I feel good. You can draw your own conclusions, because if I accepted the fight already in September, and we fought with him in June, then this naturally says that everything is fine with me.”

Gvozdyk suffered the second defeat of his career in June, losing to David Benavidez in a fight for the vacant WBC interim title. In the fight, which took place in Las Vegas at the Grand Garden Arena, the American won by unanimous decision.

Earlier, in 2020, the Ukrainian ended his career, but then decided to return to professional boxing. From 2016 to 2019, he held the WBC light heavyweight title. In 2012, Alexander became the bronze medalist of the Olympics.

The Ukrainian plans to fight his next fight at the beginning of 2025. Gvozdyk is scheduled to appear in the ring in January on the undercard of the fight between David Morrell and the aforementioned Benavidez.
