The coach of the Ukrainian U-21 national team previously announced an application for control matches with Portugal and Italy
Lechia forward Bogdan Vyunnik shared his emotions after his challenge to Ukrainian national team U-21 for training camp in November.
“We were at the Lechia theory with the players, joking. Ivan Zhelizko says: “Congratulations on the challenge.” I was like, “What challenge?” He told me what he saw on Instagram.”
“I can say that I was surprised. Didn’t expect it. Now there will be friendly matches in preparation for the Euro, I didn’t think that I would be on the list. Thanks to Melgosa for calling me.”
“There was also a training camp before the Olympics, and the people who went there ended up at the Olympics. Therefore, I think I can get a chance at Euro 2025. We must play good matches. For my part, I have to score some goals and prove to the coach that I should be at the Euros.”
“Italy and Portugal are the highest level of teams. We will play as always, win victories, score goals and give good emotions to our people and everyone who supports us.”
“What attracted Unai Melgosa to me? First of all, my playing practice, goals and playing minutes. I think that was the main thing for him. The last time I saw Melgosa was a year ago, in November. After that, I never spoke to him, had no contact with headquarters or anyone else. Now I’ll see him for the first time.”
“95% of the team remained the same. They played well and continue to do so. It’s no coincidence that we came second in the group and the best second team among all in the selection for Euro 2025.”
The blue-yellows will hold two meetings in November. On November 15, Melgosa’s team will compete with Portugal. The fight will take place in Alverque do Ribatejo, which is part of the Lisbon district. The game starts at 19:30 Kyiv time.
On November 19, Unai’s team will have another friendly – they will meet Italy U-21 in La Spezia at the Alberto Picco Stadium. The meeting will take place at the home stadium of Spezia Alberto Picco (19:15 Kyiv time).
It was previously reported that at the November training camp, the coach of the Ukrainian U-21 national team wants to review potential candidates. The emphasis will be on players born in 2004 and 2005.
The Ukrainian U-21 national team confidently passed the qualification stage for Euro 2025. She won eight starting matches, after which she suffered two misfires in October against England (1:2) and Serbia (0:1).
The final tournament of the Youth Euro 2025 will take place from June 12 to July 5, 2025 in Slovakia.
