Alexander Zubkov and Georgy Sudakov scored for the Miners
Miner in a nominally “home” match in Gelsenkirchen beat Young Boys in the fourth round of the general round Champions League 2024/25 – 2:1.
The guests managed to score first; Kastriot Imeri scored. Just four minutes later, the Miners got even – Alexander Zubkov blocked Georgy Sudakov’s cross, and scored Shakhtar’s first goal in the current Champions League. Later, Sudakov himself brought the Ukrainian club forward.
In the second half, Shakhtar continued to control the game. The teams created several chances to score, but were unable to convert them.
Shakhtar scored four points and is in 26th place in the overall Champions League table. The miners won their first victory in the current Champions League. Young Boys remained penultimate, suffering their fourth defeat.
In the next round, Shakhtar will play away against PSV on November 27. Goryanki will play their next match in the Ukrainian Championship against Zorya on November 10.
