Calhanoglu brought victory to the Nerazzurri, converting a penalty
Inter achieved a minimal victory at home against Arsenal in the 4th round Champions League – 1:0.
The fight took place in equal competition. Already in the second minute, Denzel Dumfries hit the crossbar, but the only goal came at the very end of the first half. A penalty was awarded for Mikel Merino’s handball, which was converted by Hakan Calhanoglu.
The Gunners spent the second half on the attack and could have equalized the score several times. Kai Havertz missed two good chances – after his shot the hosts were saved by Jan Sommer and a defender.
Despite the pressure to come back, Mikel Arteta made only one change until the 82nd minute. Ukrainian Alexander Zinchenko appeared at the end of the meeting, but did not have time to note anything outstanding. For the 27-year-old football player, this appearance on the field was only the fifth of the season.
The victory allowed Simone Inzaghi’s team to gain 10 points and move up to fifth place in the overall table. Arsenal suffered their first defeat in the tournament and fell outside the top 10 with seven points.
In the fifth round, the Milan club will host RB Leipzig, and the Gunners will play Sporting in Lisbon.
