Skaters Metelkina and Berulava are second after the short program at the Grand Prix stage in Japan

Georgian duet Anastasia Metelkina /Luka Berulava took second place after the short program in the pairs competition at the fourth stage of the International Figure Skating Grand Prix Series in Tokyo (Japan).

A native of the city, Vladimir Metelkina and Berulava received 70.28 points for the rental. The leaders are the Japanese Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara (71.90), while the first three are completed by the Americans Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea (69.15).

Another former Russian figure skater, Daria Danilova, in a duet with Michel Tsyba, scored 58.90 points for the Netherlands and finished sixth.

In the pairs dance competition, after the rhythm dance, 2022 Olympic champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates (86.32) of the United States are in the lead.

Free routines and dance duets will be performed on Saturday.

Russian athletes have been suspended from participating in competitions under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the situation in Ukraine.
