Americans Chock and Bates won ice dancing at the Japanese Grand Prix

American figure skaters Madison Chock and Evan Bates won the ice dance during the fourth stage of the ISU Grand Prix in Tokyo.

The two-time world champions, who were in the lead after the rhythm dance, received a total of 215.95 points for the two programs. The second American couple, Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko, scored 198.97 points. The top three were completed by Lithuanian representatives Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevicius (195.52).

Later Saturday, couples and men’s and women’s singles will perform free programs.
