Figure skater Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva dancing in ice dance with Egor Bazin said his personal blog and column helped him with his performances.
The third stage of the Russian Grand Prix began on Saturday in Krasnoyarsk. The Khudaiberdieva/Bazin duo scored 83.17 points and took first place after the rhythm dance. Vasilisa Kaganovskaya and Maxim Nekrasov are second (79.81), third Ekaterina Mironova/Evgeniy Ustenko (77.04).
Bazin: Compared to the test skates, we have become more technical. We were always told that at the start of the season, we shouldn’t look at the elements, but focus on the dancing. We improved our technique, the beginning and end became more emotionally charged.
— Elizaveta, you started writing your own blog and column. Does being a journalist help you?
Khudaiberdieva: I try to worry less and cling to something, so I don’t make any of my activities absolute, because that would embarrass me. I don’t admit to being a journalist, I just show skaters behind the scenes. Let me tell you what nice people we are here. If anyone gets involved in figure skating because of this, I’m only happy.
I need to have time to miss training, to regain strength, my hobbies motivate me and help me. I have had this predisposition for a long time; I first ran a Telegram channel for five friends. They all said I had cool style and humor. Everyone says it’s a pleasure to work with me, my documents are almost never edited in terms of errors, so I congratulate myself on that (laughs).
Bazin: And a lot of people like it, a lot of people admit that they read and follow.
— Elizaveta, you often pay attention to the less popular popularity of dances…
Khudaiberdieva: It is clear from the faces of the fans that they know us and are not just waiting for boys and girls from bachelors. What I criticize is that dancers are not highlighted as much in the media. There is also an opinion about the stagnation of dance, the lack of competition, but all this is invented. At each stage there are three warm-ups for the dancers, the struggle will not only be for the Russian championship, but also to get there.
— Egor, you are 29 years old. Don’t you feel old?
Bazin: In international competitions, we skate even at 35 years old. I’m proud that only seven guys have reached the age of 30 in the last few years, I’m proud to be getting closer. Dance is a form where experience helps to express emotions,” reports a correspondent according to Khudaiberdieva/Bazin.
The skaters will present their free dance on Sunday.
