Barcelona announced the start of a new multi-year partnership with an equipment manufacturer Nike. The brand will be the official technical partner for all teams of the Catalan club.
Earlier this year it was reported that Blaugrana was close to concluding a ten-year deal with Nike worth a total of 1.3 billion euros (120 million for each season + 100 million as a signing bonus).
Nike has dressed Barcelona since 1998. The Blaugrana’s previous contract with the equipment manufacturer was valid until 2026. Under this agreement, the Catalan club received 85 million a year as a fixed amount and 20 million as bonuses.
In March, Blaugrana president Joan Laporta announced that the club would terminate its contract with the brand early due to “flagrant violations.” The story continued: the commercial court of Barcelona considered that the club did not have enough grounds to terminate the contract if the conditions specified in it were fully met. After this decision, the blue garnets and the equipment manufacturer began to draw closer and resolve the conflict. As a result, Nike agreed to improve contract terms under the guarantee of long-term cooperation from the club.
Barcelona leads La Liga, 6 points ahead of Real Madrid. Tomorrow, November 10, Hans-Dieter Flick’s team will play away against Real Sociedad.
