Guardiola lost four matches in a row for the first time in his coaching career

The townspeople have not had such a long series of defeats since 2006

Today’s defeat Manchester City from Brighton (1:2) in the away match of the 10th round English Premier League allowed the anti-record to take place. For the first time in a 17-year coaching career Josep Guardiola happened four defeats in a row.

If we talk about the history of the club without reference to a specific coach, then the last time such an opportunity with the Citizens – a series of four defeats in all competitions – happened more than 18 years ago, namely in August 2006, under coach Stuart Pearce.

Incredible for Man City, the best club in the world in 2023, the losing streak started on October 30 in the League Cup – then Guardiola’s team lost away to Tottenham (1:2). This was followed by a fiasco in Bournemouth (1:2), a pogrom in Lisbon from Sporting (1:4) and a fresh setback in the south of England.

In the Champions League, City are in 10th place overall with seven points. In the Premier League, after two defeats, City lost its leadership, and at the end of the current round, it risks losing Liverpool to a five-point lead.

Guardiola’s team will play their next match after the international break. On November 23, Manchester City will host Tottenham.
