Figure skaters Khudaiberdieva and Bazin: “Do you want to go to the international stage? Stupid question”

Skaters Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva And Egor Bazin stated that they follow international competitions and wish to return there in the future.

On Sunday, the dance duo Khudaiberdieva/Bazin scored 209.40 points and won the third stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk. Vasilisa Kaganovskaya/Maxim Nekrasov (200.93) finished second, Ekaterina Mironova and Evgeniy Ustenko (193.95) won bronze.

Bazin: We improved our result in the free skate compared to last season, we skated decently. We are pleased that our assessments are closer to those of our leaders.

Khudaiberdieva: Medals are very important, anything can happen in dance. So we ride for them.

— What is the reason for choosing a program?

Bazin: A big thank you to our choreographer, we try to spend 5 to 10 minutes before training with him to immerse ourselves in the program. The most difficult thing is to convey our idea during competitions, and not only in the gym.

Khudaiberdieva: It is impossible to learn how to do this program, it greatly depends on the soul and mood, there must be inner light, love, purity of the soul. A special program for us. Sergei Petukhov works a lot there, his involvement represents half, or more, of our success. Sometimes he can tell things are going badly. Many thanks to our great team who helped us through difficult times, both in person and over the phone.

— Are you motivated by the desire to become better?

Khudaiberdieva: Our programs have not been repeated; we ourselves want to do something new. That’s part of our thing. We are sportsmen, competition makes us angry in a good way, we will not let the situation take its course. But we won’t get the thrill of gold without doing what we want ourselves. It’s much cooler to combine and leave a mark in figure skating.

— Do you compare the scores with those of your opponents?

Bazin: The scores themselves are interesting to look at. We always look at the scores, but it’s difficult to compare because the judging teams are different depending on the competition.

Khudaiberdieva: We saw that in terms of points we were close to Khavronina/Narizhny, Stepanova/Bukin, that’s cool, but we are working on it.

— Katsalapov said that at international tournaments he follows those he competes against. Who do you follow?

Bazin: I followed the season we won the Russian championship, the first year we were ineligible. Then I first made comparisons in my head, now I can see if anyone advises me.

Khudaiberdieva: This year, I follow all the big competitions, but not the results. I hope people understand that scores cannot be compared. I watch productions, programs, my old rivals. In Russia we have a close competition between pairs, and it is the same today in international skating.

— Do you want to launch yourself on the international scene?

Bazin: Stupid question (laughs).

— Is this season the most interesting in the last five years?

Khudaiberdieva: One of the pre-Olympic seasons was a real Santa Barbara, there was a huge competition, which still exists today, including among juniors, ”reports the correspondent the words of Khudaiberdieva/Bazin .
