In Cherkassy, Obolon won its second victory this season
Head coach Obolon Sergey Shishchenko commented on the away victory over LNZ (1:0) in the 13th round match UPL.
“It was a difficult game. We understood that LNZ plays the ball very well, plays very aggressively. We understood what kind of players they had in the attacking line. Therefore, we planned to give the initiative. What you saw in the first half, we did and played. And the second half was more defensive, more organized, because we didn’t want to give space to LNZ’s fast players.”
“And I think we did great. We really operated on counterattacks, and in some cases it worked out very well, very effectively. But Zhenya Kucherenko also played very well in two moments. And the moment in the second half allowed us to take the lead. And I’m glad that we won this victory and brought this match to victory.”
“After the break, I promised the guys that if we win the game today, I will give four days off. That’s what I did. We will rest for four days, then we will prepare for Krivbass. We have a sparring scheduled with Chernomorets. Therefore, now we will recover, rest and prepare for the next match.”
“We thought about players from different clubs, but now I can’t say with whom we will talk, because I had a conversation with Polesie, but there were no specifics yet, so now I can’t say anything about it. We are not yet having such specific conversations with clubs in order to rent some of the players.”
“We will decide who we need to hire. We need strikers, wingers, inside players. We will look for who wants to play in Obolon. A lot depends on the players who do not play for their clubs. Whether they have a desire to play in Obolon or not, this is also very important. Therefore, I cannot say anything about loaned players yet. This is in the plans, but I can’t say yet how it will happen.”
The only and winning goal in yesterday’s match was scored in the opening of the second half – Vitaliy Grusha crossed from the right flank towards the far post, Evgeniy Kucherenko hit the ball, but Obolon captain Oleg Slobodyan sent it into the net without any problems.
Sergei Shishchenko’s team now has 9 points and is equal in this indicator to Left Bank, but due to the worst goal difference, Obolon is in 15th place in the direct relegation zone.
In the next round, Obolon will play at home against Krivbass on November 24.
