Gumennik told what he likes about skaters Hanyu, Him Fa and Chen

Figure skater Pierre Gumennik said he greatly appreciated the technique of figure skaters Nathan Chen, Yuzuru Hanyu and the skating of Adam Xiao Him Fa.

On Sunday, Gumennik scored 282.88 points and took second place in the third stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk. Nikolai Ugozhaev won (292.56), Daniil Samsonov finished third (275.94).

— The emotions were contained, I did what I had planned. It took a little while to complete the jumps and find balance. I haven’t discussed it with the coach yet, but in the process, it seems that the current programs can be improved, made easier and with additional twists.

— Do you have a model? Which skater would you like to be compared to?

— I have never tried to completely copy anyone. I watch a lot of skaters and try to get the best out of everyone. Comparisons with many athletes would make me happy. Among the latter, I like Xiao Him Fa’s skating and his choreography. The technique of Nathan Chen and Yuzuru Hanyu, their harmony.

— You are studying computer software engineering. How do you continue?

— It is important to place the accents correctly. When I was injured in September, I skated for 45 minutes straight, spent a lot of time studying, and outperformed almost all of my classmates.

– You gave in to a guy from the younger generation, although recently you yourself were like that…

— I always want to consider myself young (laughs). I will work to complicate the content. If I do two flips, a Salchow, an Axel, a loop and tighten everything, then everything will be fine, ”reports a correspondent, reporting Gumennik’s words.

Gumennik is a silver and bronze medalist of the Russian Championship, winner of the Russian Grand Prix final in 2023.
