Zarya won after the first half, but then conceded three goals
Head coach Zari Mladen Bartulovich commented on the defeat from Shakhtar (1:3) in the 13th round Ukrainian Premier League.
“I thank my team for their desire. We really wanted to score points, but lost the match. We understood that the opponent was starting to play aggressively from the first half. We withstood this pressure. But at the beginning of the second half we failed to contain Shakhtar. It was important to play carefully in the first 15 minutes. It didn’t work.”
“Plus, such a penalty… If it had gone towards their team, do you think they would have given this penalty? The result is our defeat. Shakhtar played better today than in the cup match. It was more difficult for us.”
“What is Shakhtar’s main squad? They have 25 players of equal value. Are the bad players in the championship coming on as substitutes? For example, Zubkov’s collection of Ukraine. Shakhtar have a good roster, and they can easily strengthen their game.
“We understood that there would be pressure in both the first and second halves. During the break they talked about this too. We couldn’t stand the second half, its beginning. Plus, I repeat, this is a penalty.”
“We tried to strengthen the game, release attacking players. Michin had a yellow one, so Voloshin came out. Gorbach got a little hooked and decided to release Kiryukhantsev. Well, then the second striker. They wanted to get even. We watched their last meetings. Due to their busy schedule, they sit down a little in the last fifteen minutes. But we failed to score again.”
Zarya led after the first half, Alexander Yatsyk scored. Shakhtar, thanks to goals from Kevin and Artem Bondarenko from the penalty spot, took the lead. Already in injury time, Jordan cut the ball into his own goal.
Zarya scored 15 points and is in 10th place in the UPL. In the next round, Bartulovich’s team will play against Polesie on November 25.
