Defender of Polesie – about the match with Dynamo in the 13th round of the UPL
Defender of Polesie Bogdan Mikhailichenko became the anti-hero of his team in the central match of the 13th round of the Ukrainian Championship against Kyiv Dynamo. Imad Ashur’s team lost in the capital of Ukraine with a score of 1:2, and Mikhailichenko was sent off at the end of the first half due to two warnings.
– Bogdan, it is clear that the Dynamo – Polesie match was extremely important for both teams. What is the main reason for losing this game?
— I agree that the match was extremely important for the two teams. We carefully prepared for this meeting and I think we played a good match. However, if the opponent reaches our goal twice and scores two goals, then we have big problems. Regarding my red card, I would like to apologize to my team. Actually, I don’t think there were any warnings in those episodes. In the second half, the team played in the minority. It was difficult for the guys, but I would like to thank them for their dedication.
— Did you disagree with the first yellow card that Vitaly Romanov showed you?
— I touched the opponent, but if you give yellow cards for the slightest touch. I don’t know… In the second episode I didn’t walk with a straight leg, there was a game moment there. As an example, in the second half Rubchinsky played quite harshly against our player – no yellow card.
— When the score was 0:2, did you have any idea that you could make this game a draw?
— It appeared when Alexey Gutsulyak scored one goal. We had chances. All the same, the guys are great, because it’s very difficult to play in the minority for an entire half.
— Polesie is already 10 points behind the leaders. Does it hurt your self-esteem?
– Certainly. We had two important matches – against Alexandria and today. We need to work harder and try to score maximum points.
— In the locker room, after the final whistle, are the Polesie players in a depressed state?
– Yes, sure. We lost and that explains everything.
