Ukrainian women’s beach soccer team won her first victory at an international tournament Neom Beach Soccer Cup 2024which takes place in Saudi Arabia. Yuri Klimenko’s team turned out to be stronger in the 2nd round match England team – 4:2.
The blue-and-yellows managed to recover from their major defeat to Spain (1:6) in the first round. The Ukrainians, who opened the scoring through the efforts of Miroslava Vypasnyak, lacked a few seconds to win the first period – the opponents managed to equalize the score right before the siren.
The second 12 minutes became decisive. In it, our compatriots managed to score two unanswered goals. Snezhana Volovenko put Ukraine ahead after a corner, and then Alisha Buckingham cut the ball off after Yulia Kostyuk’s shot into her own goal.
The English did not give up: Nicole Evans revived the intrigue in the 3rd minute of the last period, but almost immediately Anastasia Klipachenko restored the two-goal gap.
England, with two defeats, remained last. Ukraine is level on points with Spain and Brazil, whose head-to-head meeting will take place today.
In the third round, the blue-yellows will face the Brazilians. This fight will take place tomorrow, November 15, starting at 13:45 Kyiv time.
The tournament for Klimenko’s team will end on November 16. Depending on the final place taken, she will play either in the final or in the match for 3rd place.
